Internal Number: 149547 Western Kentucky University Campus Child Care (WKUCCC) is a federal and state funded child care program serving children ages 0-5 and families. The Specialist is responsible for planning and implementing the regulations and policies/procedures for Early Head Start/Head Start programs covering the areas of Education and Disabilities. WKU provides full fringe benefits, including health insurance, retirement, and tuition scholarships. Primary Duties and Responsibilities The Specialist designs, implements, coordinates, and evaluates and monitors early childhood education and child development and Disability services, including, but not limited to direct supervision of staff, coordination of professional development of the early education staff, and coordination with staff, parents, and professionals to ensure that children who need special services happen. The position will also include, classroom observations, individual child observations, offering guidance and follow up to staff and parents, coordinate training for staff and ensuring licensing regulations are followed. This position also requires close coordination with staff, parents and other agencies. The Specialist will carry out WKUCCC goals, policies, and procedures designed to meet WKUCCC objectives, Head Start/Early Head Start Performance Standards, and all applicable federal and state regulations. Communication skills (both oral and written) and record-keeping skills are necessary. Regular activities include working with young children and families of diverse backgrounds and working collaboratively and cooperatively with community organizations and individuals. This is a grant funded position. Continuation is dependent upon need/funding. Job Requirements:
