Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Utilizes validated laboratory processes to conduct analysis of patient specimens using scientific technology leading to a diagnosis or specimen composition
• Operates sensitive scientific equipment for complete blood counts, hormone testing, organ function testing
• Verify test results and document finding in laboratory
• Maintain several testing protocols at one time during the analytical process
• Performs visual testing protocols utilizing the microscope, refractometer, pH meter and other equipment
• Performs calibrations, quality control, and maintenance on all instruments in section
• Participates in continuing education programs and passes all proficiency testing
• Develop strategic plans, processes, and testing for section
• Validate and approve new testing
• Participates in and ensures compliance with the quality management, biosafety, and bio-security programs
• Teach, train, and provide feedback to laboratory personnel
• Develop work schedules for section
• Research and evaluates new equipment, tests and supplies for laboratory use.
• Performs periodic cost analyses and recommends fee adjustments
• Perform special projects and diagnostic research
• Participates in weekend and holiday duty rotation
• Recognize, document, and provide input to correct substandard quality
• Maintain client confidentiality
• Strict adherence to Quality Management System requirements

Minimum Education Requirements:

• Master of Science degree in a related field of work.

Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements:

• Two years of related work experience.
• Pleasant, proactive personality with the ability to handle demanding situations, quickly adapt to address changing circumstances and personalities, and work as an individual or team
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, supervisory, multi-tasking, and organizational skills
• Problem solving ability to troubleshoot deficiencies, identify corrective actions, evaluate new processes and materials/equipment, implement plans, and develop preventive actions
• Alertness, initiative, memory for verbal and written directions and details, analytical ability
• Ability to plan and make decisions often without instruction or supervision
• Proficient computer skills, internet research, and the use of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Google Docs or equivalent and email.
